The workshop (17.-19. April 2018 in London) will be practical based and attendees will leave with a a japanned panel and a box. There will be some handouts including the historical background and technical information. The focus of the course will be on the traditional 17th century & 18th century japanning techniques; a la Stalker & Parker, with a range of modern materials also explored. The ethics and best conservation practice will be addressed but all in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. The emphasis will be on practical application and having fun!
