Das MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main gehört zu den weltweit bedeutenden Museen für Gegenwartskunst. Es umfasst eine Sammlung von über 5000 Werken internationaler Kunst seit den 1960er Jahren bis in die Gegenwart und zeigt wechselnde Sammlungspräsentationen und Ausstellungen zeitgenössischer Kunst. Seit Herbst 2014 verfügt das MMK über drei Standort in Frankfurt mit unterschiedlichen programmatischen Schwerpunkten.
Wir suchen zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine_n Restaurator_in zur Krankheitsvertretung, befristet für ein Jahr.
Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehören: Unterstützung des Restaurierungsdienstes in den nachfolgenden Aufgabengebieten: Logistische Organisation von Ausstellungen, sowie die restauratorische und konservatorische Betreuung der Auf- und Abbauten und der laufenden Ausstellungen; Personalverantwortung für das Art-Handlingteam; Durchführung von Restaurierungs- und Konservierungsmaßnahmen an Kunstwerken der Sammlung (Gemälde, Skulpturen, Installationen, Zeichnungen, Fotografien, Video, Time-based Media); Entwicklung neuer Verfahren und Möglichkeiten der Restaurierung; Analyse und Dokumentation von Techniken und Arbeitsmaterialien für konservatorische Zwecke; Erstellen konservatorischer Rahmenbedingungen und Entwicklung von Konzepten der präventiven Konservierung; Vorbereitung, Koordination, Begleitung und Dokumentation von Leihgaben.
Dokumentation und Behebung von Schäden; Kommunikation mit Versicherungen, Gutachter_innen; Erstellen von Leistungsbeschreibungen für Fremdfirmen; Einholen von Angeboten.
Wir erwarten: Eine abgeschlossene Ausbildung zum/zur Restaurator_in (Diplom oder MA) oder eine vergleichbare Ausbildung, bevorzugt mit praktischer Berufserfahrung im Bereich der Gegenwartskunst; Nachweisbare praktische und wissenschaftliche Kenntnisse einschlägiger Konservierungs- und Restaurierungsmethoden im musealen Umfeld; Herausragendes Organisationstalent; Fähigkeit zum selbstständigen Arbeiten und Planen; Flexibilität und Teamfähigkeit; EDV-Kenntnisse, insbesondere BeeCollect; sehr gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift; interkulturelle Kompetenz.

The Museum MMK für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main is one of the world’s leading museums for contemporary art. It houses a collection of over 5,000 works of international art from the 1960s to the present and features changing collection presentations and exhibitions of contemporary art. Since autumn 2014, the MMK has had three locations in Frankfurt, each with different programmatic focuses.
We are looking for a conservator (m/f/d) to cover for illness, limited to one year, starting as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities include: Supporting the restoration service in the following areas: logistical organization of exhibitions, as well as the restoration and conservation management of the setup and dismantling of exhibitions and ongoing displays; personnel responsibility for the art handling team; carrying out restoration and conservation measures on artworks from the collection (paintings, sculptures,
installations, drawings, photographs, video, time-based media); developing new methods and possibilities for restoration; analyzing and documenting techniques and materials for conservation purposes; establishing conservation conditions and developing concepts for preventive conservation; preparing, coordinating, accompanying, and documenting loans; documenting and addressing damages; communicating with insurance companies and experts; creating performance descriptions for external companies; obtaining quotes.
We expect: A completed training as a conservator (diploma or MA) or a comparable qualification, preferably with practical experience in the field of contemporary art; demonstrable practical and scientific knowledge of relevant conservation and restoration methods in a museum context; outstanding organizational talent; ability to work and plan independently; flexibility and teamwork skills; IT knowledge, especially in BeeCollect; very good English skills, both written and spoken; intercultural competence.
